Deal has plenty to offer. The quietness of the conservation area is contrasted by the bustle of the local High Street with its mix
of antique and gift shops and major stores. There is a
wealth of local pubs, cafes and fine restaurants, with outlying villages and
nearby Sandwich extending your choice of places to eat. Fishing trips can be booked from many of the small boats moored on the beach near Walmer.
There are plenty of walks to be enjoyed either along the coastal path or inland to pretty villages. Locally there is a wide choice of castles and gardens to visit and Canterbury is
only half an hour away. There are three golf courses close
by, including the championship Royal St. George's, venue of the 2003 Open.
Close to Dover, Deal is perfectly situated for daytrips
to France.
